This policy explains what information FlatTable uses, which information stays on your device and when third-party services may process data. It also describes advertising, your privacy choices and your rights.
1. Who is responsible?
The operator of FlatTable is:
Eric Wündisch
Breite Str. 36
14943 Luckenwalde
Germany
Email: info@ericwuendisch.de
This policy covers the FlatTable mobile application for leveling table tennis tables. The website hosting this document may have its own privacy notice.
2. Information used by FlatTable
FlatTable helps you check and adjust the tilt of a table tennis table using compatible motion sensors in your phone or tablet. It is designed to work locally for its core measuring and calibration functions. No FlatTable account or developer-operated data synchronization server is required.
Depending on how you use the app, it stores the following information locally on your device:
- Age-related information: the date of birth you enter, used to determine appropriate advertising protections.
- Preferences: language and appearance settings.
- Calibration: saved calibration values and information about completing the initial setup.
- App state: settings needed to restore your local configuration.
The app reads motion-sensor measurements to display the current tilt and complete calibration. It does not maintain its own history of live leveling measurements or upload those measurements to a FlatTable server.
The complete date of birth is stored in FlatTable's local preferences. The app uses the resulting age category to apply protective settings to advertising requests; an age-related protection signal may therefore be provided to Google's advertising SDK. FlatTable does not intentionally send your complete date of birth or live motion measurements to its own servers or to Google for advertising.
The displayed tilt is a device-based aid to leveling, not a certified metrology result or a representation of an official table tennis tolerance.
3. Where information is stored and for how long
FlatTable stores its preferences and calibration records in local application storage on your device. They generally remain until you use the app's data-deletion function or uninstall the app and its local data.
Live motion-sensor samples are processed while the relevant measurement or calibration function is active and are not stored by FlatTable as a permanent measurement history.
Your operating system may back up or restore local app data depending on your device settings. Google and other platform providers may separately retain information under their own policies.
For details, see the Data Deletion Policy.
4. Advertising and Google services
FlatTable integrates Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) for banner advertising and Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) for advertising-related privacy choices. Whether an ad can be requested depends on the app version, device, age-related safeguards, the availability of Google's services and applicable consent requirements. Web versions and some development environments do not display native AdMob ads.
When advertising services are active, Google and, where applicable, participating advertising technology providers may process information such as:
- IP address and an approximate location derived from it;
- app and device information, including permitted device or advertising identifiers;
- interactions with advertisements;
- advertising delivery, diagnostics, performance measurement and fraud-prevention information;
- consent choices and information needed to apply them.
FlatTable is designed to request non-personalized advertising. Non-personalized ads are not selected using a person's previous online activity, but they do not necessarily mean that no personal information is processed. For example, Google explains that identifiers may still be used for frequency capping and aggregated reporting where permitted.
Google describes its processing and advertising practices here:
- How Google uses information from apps that use its services
- Google Privacy Policy
- Google advertising technologies
The providers involved in a given request depend on the published advertising and consent configuration.
5. Consent and privacy choices
Where legally required, FlatTable uses Google's UMP system to request or manage advertising-related privacy choices. In particular, local storage and device identifiers used for advertising may require consent even if advertisements are non-personalized.
For users treated as adults, FlatTable checks the applicable consent status and offers a consent form or privacy-management options when required. You can decline optional consent without losing access to FlatTable's core leveling functions. An advertising request may be unavailable when the required permission is missing.
Where the app offers a privacy-management control, you can use it to review or change choices for future processing. Withdrawing consent does not erase information already processed by third parties.
You can also review Google My Ad Center and the privacy settings of your device.
6. Children and teenagers
FlatTable uses the self-declared date of birth to distinguish users under 13, users aged 13 to 17, and adults. The app does not independently verify a user's age.
The advertising implementation is intended to apply protective age-related settings and request only non-personalized, age-appropriate ads for children and teenagers. An ad is requested only when the relevant technical protections and legal conditions permit it. Adult consent dialogs are not presented to users classified as minors.
Actual ad availability depends on Google services and relevant app-store rules. We do not build advertising profiles using a child's motion-sensor measurements or calibration values.
7. Purposes and legal bases
Where the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies, FlatTable uses on-device settings and sensor readings to deliver and maintain the functions you request. Depending on the circumstances, the applicable legal basis may be performance of an app-use relationship (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR) or our legitimate interest in providing a functional, reliable app (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Age-related settings are used to apply appropriate safeguards and meet relevant obligations, where applicable (Articles 6(1)(f) and 6(1)(c) GDPR).
Where consent is required for access to device information or storage in connection with advertising, the applicable rules include Section 25 of the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG) and, where relevant, Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. Other processing by participating advertising providers may rely on the bases disclosed in the applicable consent interface and their privacy notices. Non-personalized advertising is not automatically exempt from consent requirements.
Our legitimate interests may include supporting the app's functionality, reliability and security. Advertising may help finance the app, subject to applicable safeguards and user choices.
8. Recipients and international transfers
FlatTable does not operate its own account database or server for synchronization of leveling or calibration records. We do not sell your calibration data.
Where advertising or consent services are active, information may be transmitted to Google and advertising technology providers identified through the applicable consent arrangements. Some providers may process information outside the European Economic Area. Where GDPR transfer rules apply, a valid transfer mechanism or safeguard is required; details can be found in the providers' privacy notices and relevant consent disclosures.
9. Your rights
Subject to applicable law and its conditions, you may have the right to:
- access personal data concerning you;
- request correction or deletion;
- request restriction of processing;
- object to processing based on legitimate interests;
- receive data in a portable format where legal requirements apply;
- withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing;
- lodge a complaint with a competent data-protection supervisory authority.
Because FlatTable stores its preferences and calibration records on your own device and does not maintain a user account, we generally cannot access or remotely erase that information. You can delete locally managed data in the app as explained in the Data Deletion Policy.
For requests about processing for which we are responsible, contact info@ericwuendisch.de. For information controlled independently by Google, consult Google's Privacy Policy.
10. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated if FlatTable's features, advertising arrangements or applicable legal requirements change. The latest published version is available via FlatTable's privacy-policy link. The hosting website may also show the document's last-updated date.
